IEEE Non-Volatile Memory Systems and Applications Symposium (NVMSA) provides a fantastic opportunity for global nonvolatile memory researchers from different communities to discuss and exchange knowledge, ideas, and insights, and to facilitate the establishment of potential collaborations that can speed up the progress in the design and application of NVMs. The event is designed to foster interaction and presentation of early results, new ideas and speculative directions. Thus, NVMSA will combine the presentations of the papers accepted from the regular submissions as well as a number of invited talks from researchers in academia, technologists from industry, and case studies on the use of NVMs. Participating authors are invited to submit six-page manuscripts to the conference. All accepted papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Extensions of some selected papers will be published in a special issue of The Journal of Systems Architecture: Embedded Software Design.

This special issue calls for contributions on design and implementation of dependable systems. Software intensive dependable systems design and implementation models that efficiently manage the platform resources. Contributions on the selection and evaluation of distributed interaction models for middleware, software technology choices, model-based design including accurate though flexible temporal behavior modeling, resource efficiency, performance, scalability, and coordination are requested. Contributions may focus at the different levels of the software stack of a reliable system: operating systems, middleware, programming models, security, and related mechanisms to enhance the flexibility and reliability.

Title:4th Workshop on Runtime and Operating Systems for the Many-core Era

Parallel processing has become prevalent across the board. In order to continue a performance increase, innovative many-core architectures will be developed. Such systems, equipped with a significant higher amount of cores per chip than multicores, pose challenges in both hardware and software design. On the hardware side, on-chip networks, scratchpads, hybrid memory cubes, non-volatile and stacked memory, as well as deep cache-hierarchies, and novel cache-coherence strategies will enrich the current research areas. The ROME workshop is addressed to the new challenges in hardware/software co-design of runtime and operating systems in order to exploit the available performance as effectively as possible.

Environments (VEE’16).

This year’s VEE continues its tradition of providing a forum for
researchers and practitioners to interact, share ideas, and
discuss the latest work on virtualization. The conference brings
together people from different domains of computer science, from
the top of the software stack down to the micro-architectural
level. In addition to the 13 accepted papers, the VEE’16 program
includes two keynote presentations by Ada Gavrilovska (Georgia
Tech) and Kathryn McKinley (Microsoft Research).  This year’s
program also includes a panel discussion on the state of
virtualization. We are happy to present the community with a
strong program (
covering a wide range of virtualization topics.
As in previous years, VEE '16 is co-located with ASPLOS 2016,
which will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. VEE '16 will be
