Ninth Workshop on Hot Topics in Operating Systems |
Deadline: |
10-Jan-2003 |
Webpage: |
http://www.usenix.org/events/hotos03/ |
Conference: |
May 18-21, 2003, Lihue, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai |
Synopsis: |
The Ninth Workshop on Hot Topics in Operating Systems (HotOS-IX)
will be held in Lihue, Hawaii, on the island of Kauai, on May 18-21, 2003.
About 60 participants will be selected based upon submitted position papers,
which are due on January 10, 2003. The workshop will bring together people
doing innovative work in the systems area, broadly construed, for three
days of interaction, with all attendees being active participants and contributors
throughout the workshop. Continuing the HotOS tradition, this workshop
will be a place to present and discuss new ideas about and affecting systems
software, including how new application scenarios and requirements are
shaping systems today. |

ACM Principles of Distributed Computing |
Deadline: |
31-Jan-2003 |
Webpage: |
http://www.podc.org/podc2003/ |
Conference: |
July 13-16, 2003 |
Synopsis: |
We are soliciting research contributions on the design, specification,
implementation, application and theory of distributed systems. We are continuing
to broaden the conference by actively seeking papers reporting on the implementation,
analysis, evaluation, and deployment of real systems. We will favor work
that explores new territory or reflects on experience with practical applications
of the community's knowledge. Submissions on any topic in the intersection
of security and distributed computing are solicited for the Security in
Distributed Computing Special Track. |
Authors are invited to submit papers to the 19th Symposium on Operating
System Principles (SOSP) reporting on original research related to the
design, implementation, analysis, evaluation, and deployment of operating
systems. We seek submissions of high quality that significantly further
the knowledge and understanding of the systems community. In keeping with
SOSP tradition, we will favor work that explores new territory, continues
a significant research dialog, or reflects on experience with practical
applications of the community's knowledge. Papers of particular merit will
be forwarded to ACM Transactions on Computer Systems for possible publication
in a special issue. |

on the principles and foundations of parallel programming, tools and techniques
for parallel programming, and experiences in using parallel programming
to solve applications problems. Topics of interest include parallel and
distributed programming; analysis and verification, automatic parallelization,
performance analysis, optimization, languages, development tools and software
engineering methods for parallel and distributed programs; Grid computing;
distributed data management and databases; internet services and query
processing; software for embedded or real-time systems; parallel and distributed
algorithms and applications. |
ABOUT SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE
The SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE mailing list is intended to provide a low-volume channel
that provides operating systems researchers and practitioners with information
about upcoming events or other important announcements. In general, a message
containing a group of such announcements will be sent about once per month
with the subject line "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE monthly posting". On rare occasions,
announcements of particular interest or urgency will be sent out with a
different subject line, starting with "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE supplemental posting"
(for readers who wish to use mail filtering programs.) Finally, this mailing
list is made available for use by publicity chairs of SIGOPS-sponsored
conferences and the SIGOPS officers.
