This workshop intends to be a forum for the exchange of ideas and experiences on the use of virtualization technologies (VT) for constructing dependable systems. The workshop will be specially interested in highly available, resilient, and intrusion-tolerant systems. It will center around questions such as: How to build such systems using virtualization? Can virtualization help to increase dependability? How to analyze and verify VT-based dependable systems? The workshop aims to bring together researchers in these areas to present recent results, discuss the steps needed for deploying VT-based dependable systems in practice, and analyze open problems that still need research.

The student poster session is an excellent venue for graduate and undergraduate students to present and discuss their ongoing research work. The poster session features short presentations by student speakers followed by informal one-on-one interactions between presenters and other conference participants. The goal of the poster session is help students obtain early feedback on their research projects and establish contacts with other researchers with similar interests. Distributed sensor systems have become a highly active research area due to their potential for providing diverse new capabilities. Such systems allow intelligent dense monitoring of physical environments. SIROCCO is devoted to the study of the interplay and trade-offs between the efficiency of algorithms and systems and the availability of information. BM labs, in collaboration with Israeli academia, are organizing SYSTOR 2009, the first Israeli experimental systems conference. The goal of the conference is to promote systems research and to foster stronger ties between the Israeli and worldwide systems research communities and industry. SYSTOR 2009 will be a three-day conference combining academic and industrial sessions. Each day will include a keynote by a well-known international researcher on one of the conference topics. Papers of a practical and experimental nature are solicited for the academic and industrial tracks. The conference is open to all systems research topics, including storage and distributed systems.

We are pleased to announce that the 22cd ACM Symposium on Operating Systems Principles (SOSP09) will be held October 11-14, 2009 at Big Sky Resort in Big Sky, Montana. SOSP is the world's premier forum for researchers, developers, programmers, vendors and teachers of operating system technology. SOSP takes a broad view of the systems area and solicits contributions from many fields of systems practice, including, but not limited to, operating systems, file and storage systems, distributed systems, mobility, security, embedded systems, fault tolerance, system management, peer to peer systems, and virtualization.
