Synopsis:
We solicit position papers on software upgrades. We are interested in papers that address practical as well as theoretical aspects of software upgrades from large scale to embedded applications. HotSWUp'11 is co-located with ICDE 2011 and we are also particularly interested in software upgrade issues in database systems. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to: schema evolution, programming languages and operating systems support for software upgrades, tools, human factors, reliability of upgrades, coordination and deployment of upgrades.

Synopsis:
Software standards for real-time, embedded and enterprise-scale time-critical systems must support stringent resource, reliability, and timing requirements. The challenge is particularly acute for middleware standards, which must cope with performance and reliability variations of the underlying infrastructure. The goal of the workshop is to identify the state of the art and disseminate current best practice in real-time systems of all types and scales (from small-scale embedded applications to the largest enterprise-scale distributed systems) for the benefit of standards users, researchers and implementers. Relevant standards include DDS, CORBA, Java, UML, UPDM, SysML.

The 2nd Annual Non-Volatile Memories Workshop provides a showcase for outstanding research on solid state, non-volatile memories. It features a “vertically integrated” program that includes presentations on devices, data encoding, systems architecture, and applications related to these exciting new data storage technologies. The goal is to facilitate the exchange of the latest ideas, insights, and knowledge that can propel future progress. To that end, presentations may include new results or work that has already been published during the 18 months prior to the submission deadline. With the advent of virtualization technologies, efficient and effective systems management plays an even more critical role to fully exploit the resulting simplification and to contain the complexity introduced by virtual resources. Many issues in systems management within a traditional computing environment remain challenging for cloud computing. On the other hand, there are new challenges and opportunities posed by cloud computing, which call for different solutions. This workshop is intended to bring together researchers and practitioners to define and discuss the issues and challenges and share early findings in system management and services in the emerging cloud computing paradigm.

ICAC is the leading conference on autonomic computing applications, technology and foundations. This year, HPDC is affiliated with the ACM Federated Computing Research Conference in San Jose, California. HPDC will be held on June 9-11 2011 with affiliated workshops taking place on June 8th. The goal of SAR-SSI-2011 is fostering exchanges among academic researchers, industry and a wider audience interested in network and information system security. The conference will offer a broad area of events, ranging from panels, tutorials, technical presentations and informal meetings. Prospective authors are encouraged to submit papers describing novel research contributions as well as proposals for tutorials and panels. Submissions can address theoretical issues in network and information system security or provide practical and operational experiences in security management.
