This conference offers an interdisciplinary venue to discuss challenges, technologies, and emerging directions in system design and implementation that pertain to the Internet of Things. Many sub-systems need to come together to address the needs of current and future applications. These subsystems extend from cloud back-ends to cyber-physical front ends. Reliability, security, robustness, correctness, and timeliness considerations in new medical, social, environmental, energy, and automation applications must be supported by advances in cloud resource management, network protocols, and smart embedded devices.

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENTS

Title:Call for Participation in SOSP 2015
Summary:
===========================================================
Call for Participation in SOSP 2015, SOSP History Day, and
associated workshops
===========================================================

On behalf of the Organizing Committees for SOSP 2015, SOSP
History Day, and SOSP-associated workshops, we invite you to
attend the 25th Symposium on Operating Systems Principles in
Monterey, California, from October 4-7.

We have a full day of workshops on Sunday, October 4th, and a
strong program of SOSP papers from October 5-7. Because this is
the 25th SOSP, we also have a special retrospective workshop,
SOSP History Day, on October 4th. Of course, we also have social
events planned: an opening reception Sunday evening, banquet
Monday evening, and party on the beach in Monterey Tuesday
evening.

Complete information on the conference and accommodations is
available at the SOSP website, http://www.ssrc.ucsc.edu/sosp15/.

We expect this to be an exciting and historic SOSP, and look
forward to having you join us in Monterey October 4-7!

2. ABOUT SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE

The SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE mailing list is intended to provide a low-volume channel that provides operating systems researchers and practitioners with information about upcoming events or other important announcements. In general, a message containing a group of such announcements will be sent about once per month with the subject line "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE monthly posting". On rare occasions, announcements of particular interest or urgency will be sent out with a different subject line, starting with "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE supplemental posting" (for readers who wish to use mail filtering programs.) Finally, this mailing list is made available for use by publicity chairs of SIGOPS-sponsored conferences and the SIGOPS officers.
