It is a premier forum for all work related to QoS - especially in networking but also QoS aspects outside of networking are considered as very important as well, e.g., QoS in operating systems, QoS in servers, advanced middleware services and according technical issues such as quality, safety and security, admission, accounting, mobility. Title: Special Session on Modeling and Simulation-Based Multiprocessor Scheduling Web page: http://agent.csd.auth.gr/~karatza/msms01 Deadline: 28 Feb 2001 Conference: 15-19 July 2001 Synopsis: Multiprocessor systems provide considerable computational power that can be used to solve problems with large memory and computational requirements. However, jobs are not always executed efficiently. Good scheduling policies can improve system performance, preserve individual application performance, and avoid unbounded delays. Title: 9th Intl Symposium on Modeling, Analysis, and Simulation On Computer and Telecommunication Systems (MASCOTS) Deadline: 1 March 2001 Conference: 15-18 August 2001 Web page: http://www.ececs.uc.edu/mascots/ Synopsis: Papers are solicited which contain significant novel ideas and research results relevant to the modeling, analysis, simulation, measurement, benchmarking, and capacity planning of computer and communication systems and networks. Title: European Research Seminar on Advances in Distributed Systems (ERSADS) Paper Submission Deadline: 12 March 2001 Early Registration Deadline: 30 April 2001 Conference: 14-18 May 2001 Web page: http://www.cs.unibo.it/ersads/ Synopsis: Ersads is both an Advanced School and a Research Workshop, combining five half-day tutorials on advanced research topics in distributed computing with presentations of recent research results by the participants. Even though paper submission is not mandatory for attendance, interested participants are encouraged to submit papers describing their on-going work on distributed systems, even if the results are preliminary and fall outside of the topics covered by the tutorials. About the SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE mailing list ----------------------------------------- The SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE mailing list is intended to provide a low-volume channel that provides operating systems researchers and practitioners with information about upcoming events or other important announcements. In general, a message containing a group of such announcements will be sent about once per month with the subject line "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE monthly posting". On rare occasions, announcements of particular interest or urgency will be sent out with a different subject line, still starting with "SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE" (for readers who wish to use mail filtering programs.) To subscribe, send mail to LISTSERV@ACM.ORG with the following command (paste it!) in the body of the message: SUBSCRIBE SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE To unsubscribe, send mail to LISTSERV@ACM.ORG with the following command in the body of the message: UNSUBSCRIBE SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE To get more information about manipulating your subscription to this list, go to http://www.acm.org/infodir/services/listserv/doc.html To contact the owner of the list or to report a problem with the list, email SIGOPS-ANNOUNCE-request@ACM.ORG To request that an announcement be included in these mailings, email infodir_SIGOPS@acm.org. -Mike Dahlin
