Work in progress session

A traditional SOSP-style WIP session will be held on Tuesday 14th, just before lunch, to allow the maximum am0ont of post-presentation interaction.

Each WIP speaker will be give a short period in which to present their idea(s). Each slot is only 5-6 minutes long, and the timing is rigorously enforced, so these sessions are typically quite lively!

The WIP selection process will look for focussed, thought-provoking or late-breaking results, rather than a blow-by-blow description of a body of work.

Submission process

To have a chance to speak in the WIP session, please prepare a submission that is no more than 2 pages long. Notes:

The submission should be an outline of your presentation - not a script, nor the slides you'll be using. Think if it as a "30-second elevator pitch" for your idea.
The goal is to explain why your idea/presentation is going to be interesting, rather than to present a waterproof case that it is correct.
Since we are aiming to maximize the amount of last-minute inventiveness, hand-written submissions are perfectly fine, as long as they are legible.
We encourage you to try to make a single point memorably, rather than to try to cover a lot of ground.

Give your submission on paper to one of the members of the program committee at the conference by 1pm on Monday 13th December. We will not be taking electronic submission for the WIP; and ask that you don't try to send in your WIP submissions before the conference.

The selection will take place that same Monday evening, and the results announced on one of the conference notice-boards.
