SOSP Diversity 2009
The SOSP Diversity Workshop is a forum to support traditionally underrepresented students in applied systems research. Intended for minority and female students at the graduate or advanced undergraduate level, the workshop provides these students with valuable opportunities for mentorship and networking. The program includes panel discussions and individual presentations by leading researchers in academia and industry. Topics of discussion include how to craft a research agenda, how to succeed in an industrial internship, and how to have a successful job search in the midst of a difficult economic climate. The workshop will also include technical talks which deal with current challenges in advanced systems research. The overall goal of the workshop is to strengthen the pipeline of underrepresented systems students, providing them with advice and networking opportunities that they might not otherwise receive.
