A recent announcement from ACM detailed significant violations of ACM publication policies in several ACM conferences, including ASPLOS 2017, which SIGOPS co-sponsored.
Our community has long valued and fostered a culture of ethical behavior, and prized the integrity of our peer-review process. We deeply appreciate ACM’s great effort in conducting this investigation, whose results we are confident will promote both integrity of peer review and trust within our research community. We support the consideration and implementation of further positive refinements to ACM’s ethics guidelines, such as clearer specifications of how misconduct is reported and how penalties are enforced, and measures to facilitate prompt and thorough investigations in the future, as discussed in the recent SIGARCH blog post.
As ever, we welcome questions, concerns, and suggestions from the SIGOPS community.
The SIGOPS Board and SIGOPS CARES Committee.
